Indicator Notes:

  • Hispanics are included in total minority and also in racial groups.
  • Persons are considered employed if 1) work one hour for pay during the pay period that includes the 12th day of the month; or 2) work 15 hours without pay in a family business; or 3) have a job but are temporarily absent due to illness, bad weather, labor dispute or personal reasons.
  • Persons are considered unemployed if 1) 16 years or older with no earnings due to employment during the survey week; and 2) are currently available for work; and 3) were actively seeking work in the prior four weeks; or 4) are expecting recall from layoff or a new job in thirty days.
